Avalanche risk closes stretch of Highway 16 (February 8, 2018)

A bit of Highway 16 will be shut down all of Wednesday (February 7) night and could remain that route well into Thursday (February 8) morning. DriveBC says the torrential slide hazard has imposed the closure of more than 90 kilometers of the highway starting 13 kilometers east of Prince Rupert and closure 35 kilometers west of Terrace. The closure is anticipated to last until 2 p.m. PT Thursday. Authorities are cautioning drivers on Highway 16 from Prince George to Smithers about low visibility conditions because of snowfall. They are recommending to avoid driving highway if you don’t have to.     For the last few days parts of B.C's. But why do we have to make the switch to winter tires? Which tires are the best for my driving routine? How can I know? Well, our managers and drivers had some ideas, and we are sharing with you! What makes a winter tire a winter tire? As we all know, tires are made out of rubber, but winter tires are made are made with a rubber compound specifically designed and tested for cooler weather.
